Vein disease is the result of a failure in the little valves inside our veins. When these valves fail, they are less able to propel blood properly up our bodies from our feet to our heart. And an important number to consider is the number of people who die each year from deep vein thrombosis or blood clots, which can hide in deep varicose veins. These clots can become dislodged and move to the heart, lungs or brain and become deadly embolisms: 60,000-100,000 people die from this issue each year. There are some good numbers too.
