A New Jersey Vascular Doctor on Ways Your Mother Lied to You about Varicose Veins
Dr. Lowell Kabnick, New Jersey vascular doctor, debunks lies your mother may have told you about varicose veins.
What do New Jersey residents need to know about varicose vein treatments?
Back in our mother’s day, things were a lot different when it came to varicose vein treatment. She probably had unpleasant treatments that put her in the hospital, and in the end, she might still have had varicose veins! Treatments back then were painful, required lengthy recovery periods, and often they didn’t work well at all – the varicose veins simply came back, and quickly too.
That has all changed. In the last couple of decades, vein disease treatment in New Jersey has become minimally invasive, which means that the treatments are done on an outpatient basis, in a pleasant clinic instead of a hospital, and you don’t need general anesthetics so you’re up and on your way the very same day. Our mothers didn’t have access to these treatments, which include microphlebectomy, sclerotherapy, and endovenous treatments such as radiofrequency ablation and laser ablation. She only had vein stripping, which is a painful and ineffective treatment method that is rarely used today.
Better venous health evaluations
Another innovation our mothers didn’t have in their day was ultrasound technology, to visualize the veins deep beneath the skin. Without ultrasound, particularly in the case of patients with swollen legs and ankles, it can be very easy to miss the presence of diseased veins that can’t be seen from the skin surface. If diseased veins are missed during treatment, then the varicose veins won’t be eliminated and will continue to cause problems for patients.
So don’t listen to what your mother said about painful, ineffective treatments for varicose veins. Your New Jersey vascular doctor has a whole new arsenal of tools to quickly restore the health and beauty of your legs. Give us a call at 973-538-2000 to find out more.
